Another Stolen Battery... Also... Sorry

So, yesterday my morning started with a crappy discovery. Good ol'Blue was right where I left it, but the floormat, battery compartment lid, and battery were not. The goon(s) who stole it left me the first two, but walked off with the battery.

I use a huge-ass chain, but I'd gotten lazy about using my Xena, so that'll teach me. I've also ordered some tamper resistant screws, which will hopefully deter this from happening again. I wasn't jumping for joy about my stolen batter, but at least I still have a scooter.

The problem is, I dug out a post from 2011 about Luna's stolen battery and I think that confused some people.

Sorry to the folks who missed her post date and responded.

Sorry to Luna for bringing up old wounds.

Damn! Are people on crack or what? What could you possibly do with a scooter battery? Unless you have a scooter, who's gonna buy it? FFS! What are these theives doing going around and stealling batteries for? It's like they said to themselves, "Too much work stealling the scooter, I can't be bothered, but I don't wanna go away empty handed so I'll just take the battery".... F'n idiots!!

My stolen battery story happened 25 years ago in Albuquerque, on my cage. The would be thieves tried to crowbar my hood open and steal the battery, but they didn't get it open, what they did do was break the bonnet holding the hood. All this was unbenkownst to me that morning I left for work and was driving down Montgomery Blvd. in heavy traffic at 50mph when all of a sudden my hood flies open and wraps over the car. I managed to get it pulled over without hitting anyone and was wandering WTF, thats when I noticed the scratch marks left behind from the crowbar. :(

Yep. People will steal batteries from battery places just to take them to other battery places for cash.

Security screws may help but likely somebody willing to steal your battery is just going to pry open/snap off the battery cover with a screw driver. It wouldn't be that hard.

The clerk at Walmart told me that people even steal worms. I hate thieves.

I knew a guy who had a single dirty softball sock stolen from his car.

He had just had the car detailed, so he had cleaned everything out of it including the glove compartment. It was totally empty. The detailer had found one dirty sock under the seat, so he put it on the seat for the owner.

That night, he parked in a parking garage in town to go out for dinner. When he came back his car window was smashed and the single dirty sock was gone.

Scum of the earth is right.
