hot temps...oil recommendations

these heat waves have me rethinking what oil to use in my Buddy 125; currently it has a 10w-40 synthetic blend motorcycle oil w/ moly antiwear additive...listed on page 3

http://powersports.honda.com/documents/ ... micals.pdf

I have an oil change coming up soon and now I'm wondering what to use...

1) stay with the Honda stuff, 2) upgrade to full synthetic 10w-40, or 3) get a heavy duty engine oil in 15w-40...

any ideas?

Royal purple dropped my average oil temps about 10 degrees on a full throttle 20 min ride

I run Amsoil in my scoot exclusively.
I def notice cooler running temps.

Lot's of debate and personal pref on oil and gear oil.
POCPhil has a good write-up, too.

I will say that when I switched to Royal Purple gear oil, my transmission/gear box got quieter.
I run Royal Purple 15w-40 motor oil, too. It's only a few bucks more per oil change compared to other synthetics and I ride at 50-60 bmph much (most) of the time.

But the transmission is dry....

That aside, my scoot's engine is quieter right after an oil change, esp. a good synthetic.

Yes, the CVT or driven pulley area of the transmission is dry but the gear case has gear oil in it. Or, at least it should.
The parts diagram has it on page E10 and calls it the "GEAR TRANSMISSION".

I know. Just kidding. My geartrain quieted right down as well. In fact, when I picked it up from its first (dealer) service, it all sounded so different I wondered, "is this _my_ scoot, or did I get someone else's?"
