Shipping my Buddy.

I'll be moving back to California (from Georgia) in 2 months and Im trying to figure out what shipping company I should use to send my Buddy there. So, if you have used a company before and can refer one to me I would greatly appreciate it ! I really dont feel like driving to LA with a U-Haul, truck or van.

I do not want to discourage you, but you should ask around about bringing a vehicle into California from out of state before you attempt it. I've heard so many horror stories that I don't know quite what to believe. I know the law has at least one loophole in it, and you may fall into that loophole. Or 50cc machines may not be affected by the law. I'm not at all sure. Maybe ericalm or one of our members can give you the correct information so you can make an informed decision before you try it.

There are a few motorcycle crate companies who make crates for shipping things such as scooters. More often than not, the crates are reusable even. Just gotta find the right company for the job is all.

When we moved from California to Oregon, we had our two motorcycles packed on the moving truck along with the rest of our belongings. Only some moving companies will do this, so you'd have to ask. Ours arrived unscathed. They were packed in so tight with everything else that they really couldn't move around. I believe we used Allied.

+1 on Forward Air. I've worked with them on shipment of audio and set equipment for a few shows and they have always been professional and well priced. And, not one component has been damaged yet.

This is definitely one way to do it cheaper. Just be very careful about what kind of truck they're using and how the scooter will be secured, etc. All kinds of trucks bid on these things. For this, an enclosed truck and a properly-secured scooter would be very important!

Anyone see the commercial for that shipping show. That orange stella goes down. I don't know what company that is but I would stay away.

I've been seeing the commercial for it while watching Storage Wars.
Like Eric said, definitely make sure it's an enclosed truck. One other great thing about Uship is that others can rate the shipper.

yep, you can choose when accepting bids from shippers as to the type of accomodations will be used on the journey

Thank you everyone !! Shipping seems more logical. I just did NOT want to drive.
And I looked it up, luckily since we dont have to have tags in GA it wont be transferring; more of a first time registration but paying the taxes for buying it out of state.
