Sluggish Acceleration

The Iron Buddy has run so well for so long, I have forgotten some of what I had learned about troubleshooting some things.

I am thi8nking I need to replace my sliders and/or clean out my clutch bell, but wanted to rn it by the group.

For the past week or so, Iron Buddy's acceleration is a tad sluggish and sometimes there are slight "surges" as I am accelerating or when at a steady pace. There are no changes in the engine tone or volume during these "surges."

I am less than 1000 miles from last oil change. 25k miles over all and 6-7k miles on this cylinder and piston. 4-5k miles on these sliders in a Dr Pulley variator.

I pulled the variator off 2 nights ago and the sliders are quite worn, so I know I need them replaced. (Ordering more today) Is there anything else I should be looking at that may account for the sluggish acceleration and the surging? Will a glazed clutch bell create these symptoms?

Thanks all

Howard

Given the long fast rides you take I'd say sliders definitely. How old is your belt? Could be slipping.

Yes also on glazed clutch bell and cleaning dust out of the clutch. Sliders create a lot of dust as they start to break down.
