"Quick-release" milk crate attachment.

A post came up asking how we attach a milk crate to the rear rack so I thought I would share my method.

I don't use the milk crate that often so I wanted it to be sort of "quick release" but I wanted it sturdy. I often just bungee stuff to the rear rack. This thing goes on and comes off in seconds.

You could keep the inside piece lower profile by using a flat piece of steel instead of the wood. I would stick with wood for the lower piece to keep from scratching the rear rack. You could use steel there, too if you glue felt or something to it.

Nice set up. Have you considered using a quick release like you'd get on a bicycle? They're pretty cheap. The benefit would be that they won't shake loose like a wing nut could.

Great idea; and cheap too!
I haven't had any problems with the wing nut loosening yet. I tighten it enough to slightly flex the board underneath and it has stayed put.
I like the true quick-release idea though.
I just threw mine together with stuff I had layin' around the garage.

I obviously need to invest in some tools.
