Hey all,
My Blur has been using the 'Large Prima Scooter Cover' from Scooterworks.
I'm in SoCal, and it didn't even last me 11 full months.
I park in an indoor garage at work, so the cover is really only on overnight from 7pm to 8am, and I guess throughout the day on most weekends. It's stored indoors in a bag when not in use. It's totally sun-faded away, but I don't care about that. I'm in West Los Angeles - it barely rains, and the weather is usually pretty nice. Within the last month, it started disintegrating. Super sensitive and rips easily. I have one rip near a sideview mirrow, and a large rip over the rear-grab bars. It won't last much longer.
The elastic pretty much lost its snap within two months - that surprised me too. The Blur is a bit smaller than a typical Maxi scooter, so I was surprised normal on/off daily usage stretched it out. I don't mind that either, I guess it makes it quicker to put on/off.
I'm pretty surprised - it is indeed used outdoors, but under pretty forgiving weather conditions. I don't want to spend 50+ bucks on another one if it'll last me less than another year.
Was I just unlucky or doing something wrong? Is that normal life for a scooter cover?
Any recommendations on what'll give me the best bang for the buck?
220 stock Blur, no racks or cases.
I see some sub-$30 covers on Amazon, a few with a 2-year warranty.
scooter cover: most bang for the $?

Motorcycle Gear has the Nelson Rigg Falcon Defender cover on closeout. I have a couple and they are very heavy duty and 100% waterproof (though I've never put it to much of a rain test). Not a light flimsy cover at all.

this one was cheap and seems to be great. I've only had it a few months but it is really thick and doesn't soak through as easily as the $50 one I bought from my local shop.

Got that one, and after a year of use, has small holes forming around the base of the cover. The waterproofing lasted about 6 months. Yes it was cheap, think it ran about $20.Next time I'll just buy a heavy duty industrial tarp.skully93 wrote:this one was cheap and seems to be great. I don't expect any waterproofing to last that long, so I scotchguard them every so often.
haven't heard of a cover that doesn't fall apart eventually, but I'd rather spend the $20 on it than $50 I guess. I'll do a review of that one after winter.
for longer sits, A tarp under a cover is probably a great idea!

I have a Prima too (the Genuine size) and I'm not at all happy with it. It leaks terribly, especially right around the zippered pocket for the top case. If it comes anywhere near the exhaust, it melts into a crispy hole that tears if you breathe near it. My neighbors dropped a lit cigarette out the window and it burned a hole clean through it and almost onto the seat. And yes, it was leaking even before all the damned burns. It seems to pick up dirt and filth from nowhere and transfers it neatly to my lovely white Buddy as I am peeling it off. My husband has the same one, but of course HIS is just fine, doesn't leak, and hasn't got a swiss cheese look around the exhaust like mine does. I guess for the price it would be ok if I hadn't burned it on the exhaust (and the cigarette thing).

Just posted about one I bought from Amazon. I got a small for my Buddy and so far it's great! Waterproof and the material is the heat resistant aluminum coating over middleweight fabric. I don't know the size for your blur, but you may want to check this out

Different sizes are differing prices, but they are cheaper than the Prima cover. I had a different cover I paid $50 when I got my scooter and I like my $14 cover much better!
