A Piece Of Scoot Flew Off

Post by JHScoot »

While I was riding, it flew right off my Kymco Agility 125. Rear fender. Pretty sure its related to a tire swap done for me last week, as fender nor anything else has ever torn itself from the scoot in such a manner.

I was thinking of calling the shop and saying "you guys messed up my fender." But how would i prove it, really? Its been over a week. However they would prob take their recent work into consideration, I would think.

BUT....I like it without the fender. I can see the entire tire and wheel, more engine, and all that stuff. And I still have a big ass mud guard below the seat to the rear, too.

So is this ok? To leave it off, I mean? Any danger or safety concerns? I live in SoCal and all my riding is on dry pavement.

It just flew right off!!! :wha:

In my book you ain't having fun until parts start falling off!

Give us a photo. You're probably fine without it

Well, that's not something you hear of everyday from a Kymco!! Odds are it's probably just fine since those things are bulletproof. Would be nice to know what led to it, but I wouldn't stress it.

thanks guys. the scoot was fine today and i checked it all out. its fine like that, as you guys said. actually looks pretty good as i said up top. you can see the entire tire, and things. will post a pic if i can get one. i don't have a smartphone so....

so far as what happened? you are right 'neo, this thing is a built pretty tough. as said before though i am pretty sure the shop didn't reattach the fender properly when they changed the tire last week. good enough, however. its not worth hassling

and as BuddyRaton said....it aint real scootin' until stuff starts flying off!!!

Dude....I can't even remember all the things that have fallen off. A side cowl, couple of legshield mirrors, Bocette lost a Givi top box at NOLA Amerivespa, lets see during the CBR I lost a seat pin, busted off a cowl pin, and a few other things I can't remember!

...on the other hand, it never hurts to let them know, so they can try to be more careful about reattaching things. A rear fender is nothing, but maybe some other time it might be a more critical part. The whole "quality control" thing...

i think the piece that flew off on the scoot is more of a 'mud flap' that is right on the tire

not the whole rear section

that wouldve been a nightmare!

k guys here is what flew off. you see that piece right above the muffler and right over the rear tire? THAT is what flew off

that big flap / guard thing is still hanging off the back, there. that is where the license plate goes

I don't know...the mudflap will catch some of the mud and road gunk...but without the rear fender everything under your seat area (well, you know what I mean--under and behind the pet carrier) will get coated as well.

If you like how it looks, and don't mind dealing with that mess....

I'd be concerned with rust and electrical issues as things that normally would stay fairly dry would no longer be staying fairly dry...

darn it michelle now i have more things to consider!!

i think you are right about contacting the shop, anyway. just to give them and the techs a heads up. this is the same shop which rebuilt my engine and cracked some plastic trim along the way, after all. that was minor, but still. two times busted is two times busted. wonder if the almighty HONDA scoots break up the same way?

oh, i say HONDA because they are a Honda / Kymco, etc store. have LOT'S of Kymco scoots, too.
