2008 Buddy 50 won't start

Post by neald8 »

I hadn't ridden my buddy in a while and the battery was dead. I jumped the battery and drove it. Everything was good. About two weeks later the engine wouldn't start. Electrical is fine. At first the engine would turn over and now it doesn't at all. Any advice?

A few questions....

Just to clarify, as "turn over" means different things to different people. Do you mean that the electric start cranks, but the engine does not catch? Or do you mean that the electric start will not crank at all?

During that two week span, did you kick- or electric-start it?

Will it kick-start now?

This will help the community figure it out and get you back on the road.

Based on the limited info here, I'd guess the battery has expired from disuse. Can you kickstart it?

For future reference you should invest in a battery tender. They are not expensive (under $40) and will keep your battery in the ready and prevent it from having a premature death.
