I up-sized my Buddy 125 earlier this year for a 2007 Piaggio BV 250. I wanted something highway capable, and my wife would not join me on a "motorcycle." The ride from Denver to Pike's Peak was a motivating factor in getting the new scoot. It all came to fruition today with an absolutely spectacular ride to the summit with a couple of great friends.
If you've never made the ascent, here is what you are missing:

The guy that owns the local Ducati shop (Carlin Dunne, Santa Barbara, ca) won this years Pike's Peak. He was also third overall timewise up the mountain. He won last year, the LAST year that it was run on partial dirt, and then again this year, the FIRST year it was run on all asphalt. Speeds up to 145 mph........
This is Greg Tracy's run, second place, but it's awesome.....
Went to the Ducati shop today and found out that Carlin Dunne rode for the factory Ducati team this year and they kept the motorcycle. And so no pics of the shagged rear tire. I guess when he beat the factory team last year they weren't going to have any more of that.
Our ride was much more relaxing, although we did get a chance to open things up a bit. The BV did great, but the carbs were not happy once we got above the tree-line. I was also a little bit disappointed that the road is now paved all the way to the top (14,110 ft). That is new as of last year, I think.
The ride is definitely Bucket List worthy. I took the Buddy to the top of Mt. Evans twice and loved that ride too. I love living in Colorado!
