Thoughts After (almost) 200 Miles on RH

Post by TomCat »

I'm at 195 miles, will be taking the scoot in Monday for the 200 mile service.
So far I'm really impressed with the RH50 overall. The fit and finish are very good, with one exception (see below).
During break-in I've occasionally done some WOT bursts (which actually buries the speedo) followed by totally backing off the throttle, to help seat the piston ring. Acceleration off the line is impressive for a 50cc machine & handling is very predictable & stable.
All this from someone who never owned a motorized 2 wheel vehicle until a couple months ago, so I have nothing to compare this to. But can't wait until the "jump" in performance that folks seem to experience at the 1,000 mile mark, if it happens. That would be an extra bonus.
Now, for the exception in fit & finish. Noticed yesterday that the lip on the right panel was not tucked under the storage area, creating a small gap.
So,,,,,,,,,,,removed all bolts from storage area (is that what y'all refer to as Pet Carrier?) & jiggered everything around until both panels were in place. Took some force.
Problem is that now the hole in the under seat storage area didn't line up with the hole underneath it on the left side after securing the right side.
This would probably be covered under warranty but went ahead & fixed it myself. Reamed out the left hole in the storage area to fit the bolt hole. Had to take a good 1/4 inch off for it to fit. (that's what she said!).
Anyhoo, if this is the major imperfection I'll have with this scooter I'll be a happy man. :)

Just how high does the Roughhouse speedo go? The Buddy 50's goes up to 80mph (same as the bigger Buddies), and the only way I could hit that mark on mine would involve a Category 1 hurricane. :)

The RH50's speedo indicates up to 50rhmph. Anything over that is guess work unless you use an external speed monitor.
