Just wanted to share a couple pics of the aftermath.
Here are my Rev'it Sand gloves, they have been with me for two seasons now and they did their job perfectly. They wore through but they were the reason why I still have skin on my hands.
and here is my right leg which took most of the damage. That's a picture from the day after but a week later it is still not healed.

Yikes, wishing you a speedy recovery. How fast were you going?

thanks! I was doing probably about 35mph? I was following a fellow club member and my speedo is busted so not sure.
Despite not being very fast it was enough to let my bike slide 40 feet and send me rolling at least three times before I came to a stop.

Ugh, man. Usted es una hamburguesa!
Heal up quick!
A Stella with a broken speedometer? Preposterous!

Before you can learn to fight, you must learn to fall.
Other than the layers of missing skin, did you break anything?

We could turn this thread into one like the scene from Lethal Weapon 3 (?): Show me yours and I'll show you mine! Wish I had a copy of my busted clavicle x-ray.

What he didn't post is a photo of him with the purple paisley Hello Kitty cane he had to borrow from me.

Boy, did we make a pair this past week.

I wouldn't have posted that either... Lol Anyways, I hope you both are well and I hope you don't give up riding unless you HAVE to...

More like the night scene on the
Orca in Jaws. "I'll drink to your leg!"

When people ask me why I wear gear on the scooter, I reply: run as fast as you can, then throw yourself on the ground. Let me know how that works for you.

I throw them out the back of a car traveling 45mph down a busy street. Then I yell, "THAT'S WHY."

or just hop in their car, and run over them at 10mpH :p.
As an addendum, a friend of mine (who does own a buddy, but also repurchased a motorcycle) makes fun of me for wearing heavy duty gear.
"it's silly, that gear is made for 10x what you do!"
OK, but I do routinely go 65mph a few times a week (at least during the summer when I can scoot to Boulder) and the rest of my time is rush hour traffic.
Haven't banged myself up as bad as Lokky, but I'll take all the help I can get in either situation!

oh, OH, Hmmmmmmmm. Reality check for me, and that looks like some of the mountian biking injuries where I needed a surgical scrub afterwards.

This thread and others like it make me a more thoughtful rider.

Glad the healing is going well. I keep a picture on my phone of the road rash I got on my arm (which, to say my arm looked like a pizza would not be an exaggeration) and look at it every time I'm tempted to skip the jacket again!

Glad you're healing well.
I have had my gear save my butt in the past. You will never hear me laugh at you for wearing it.
There are times (rarely) I skip it on a short scooter ride, and reality always comes back...yeah I'm going 40 MPH here!

I guess depending on how you count. The big ones were rear ending the car that brake checked me after dogwood and going down on this gravel... I did technically go flying and crashing at the end of the gymkhana at amerivespa but there was minimal damage and it was in grass doing stupid shit so no surprise there

I tell people that the ground and other vehicles aren't any softer when you're riding a scooter.

Drives me nuts! Like since a scooter is "cuter" than a motorcycle, you can't get hurt. Polar bears are cute too, but I'm not about to jump into its cage to pet it.
I actually had a guy at the motorcycle store yesterday try to talk me out of "caring so much" about finding a jacket with armor. He tried to tell me that when you're on a scooter, you don't really need anything "special" - but then a few minutes later, told me about a coworker in head-to-toe protective gear who lost his leg in an accident
in the parking lot.
