Umm, isn't there another thread with the exact same thing?
DOH!
Sorry MPG, not MPH.
I got a ton of receipts from every gas purchase over the last two years - I send you those and you can compute my bMPG.

Hello JettaKnight:
You are correct that there is another topic about speed, but what I am asking the community for was something more specific.......
That is all four Buddies sizes in stock mode, top speed on level ground speedometer indicated, and or actual.......along with best MPG.
Mine.............
2009 Buddy 125
59MPH speedometer indicated level ground
80MPH
This will help me decide what to do next.
Thanks

Buddy 50, derestricted
Top MPH: about 45 (indicated) on level ground... just over 50 going downhill with a tailwind.
Top MPG: Ignoring one-time spikes that are better explained by filling up carelessly and/or unusually efficient riding that week, my best actual MPG sustained over 3 consecutive fill-ups was about 95.

Does a windshield count as 'stock'? milk crate? better tires?
Except for these changes, I'm still pretty much all stock on my 170i. I'm getting 99 mpg averaged over 6,550 miles. I can probably max out the speed near 70 mph indicated on level ground, but I've never had an opportunity to try this.

Hello hal888:
At your nearly 100 miles per gallon, I should have bought a 170 instead of installing a Big Bore Kit 161cc upgrade to my Buddy 125.
Do you know if the windshield increased your top speed and if yes, how much? 70MPH indicated on level ground for a stock 170 seems usual to me. Can you tell me about how much you weigh since that affects top scooter speed?
Thanks

Model: Buddy 125 (stock)
Economy: 95mpg (avg)
Top speed: 68mph with throttle left. I was in a tuck and have no doubt I could reach 70mph+. The scooter will out drive its own tires IMO. It gets tedious to manage before hitting absolute top speed when the road gets rough. Sitting bolt-upright like a windsock, trying to create drag, it tops around 60mph. My GF now has the low profile seat, is short, and the bike is further broken in. She could likely hit almost 70mph indicated, sitting normally.

Hello RustyShackleford:
I think you got the best stock Buddy 125 out on the road.
Thanks

To be honest, I'm sure it's about at the limit of what it can do by the time you push 70mph indicated though. Every time I've seen 65mph+ I've been tucked. When I sit back up it's really windy and the bike slows back down immediately. When I hit 68mph I was crouched so far the chin of my helmet was practically resting on the speedometer. Needless to say, it wouldn't be comfortable for very long. I'd give it about the 60mph Genuine claims for cruising under normal circumstances. I ride a sportbike normally so I'm familiar with how to get out of the way of the air I'm trying to cut through. The Buddy could benefit from a windscreen over 55mph for sure.

I travel 34 miles both ways, and i only have to fill up once a day. As far as the top speed, when I open it up on the highway the most I've gotten is 61mph on a flat span, downhill or with tail wind about 64 mph, both verified with an Android phone GPS app. I weight about 189 lbs and ride sitting up. By the way I ride a Black Jack.

I regularly hit 65 mph, indicated, do often take it above that as well.
Fuel economy? Geeze.... I don't really think about it! I suppose I'm getting in the realm of about 90 mpg.
I weigh about 150lbs, have a wind screen and a basket on the rear. (people tell me that all makes a difference)
I regularly travel a mixture on two lane country roads, in town streets, down town city streets but NEVER the highway.....

I'm in the neighborhood of 170-175 lbs. I got the windshield during break-in, and I don't really know the effect. Others say it improves mileage, and this makes sense to me.

Just got back in from testing out the Dr Pulley 11g sliders. I had to get on the interstate to check the top speed because none of the regular roads were fast enough. Anyway, here's my new stats...
Downhill top speed: 72mph (I let up after that but was at about 90% throttle)
Flat ground tucked top speed: 70mph
Flat ground upright top speed: 65mph
Hill climb top speed: 60mph
Speed is pretty conditional over 60mph. Wind, grade of the road, momentum, etc vary the speed. I feel confident I could hold 65mph though. I'd just have to work for it a little harder on hills. The only way to make high speeds more solid is to add power. Man, I'm jonesing for that big bore kit and header now.
