Taller intake manifold?

Post by JettaKnight »

So my carb is touching the engine mount and doesn't quite fit since I went to a larger head. Is there any manifolds that would let the carb sit up a bit higher than normal?

Hello JettaKnight:

I tried going to a differnet carburetor.
It required a different intake manifold becuase the diameter of the opening was not the same size as the stock carburetor. I am not sure to answer your question directly.

What that also did, was make it so the throttle cable did not reach far enough even with available adjustment. Take that into consideration as Throttle cables cost about $30. If you have to pay someone else to thread it through your scooter, that might take an hour and cost $75, if that is the hourly labor rate.

What's this paying someone to do something for you? I know not of what you speak.

There's seems to be plenty of play in the throttle cable, I would think a bigger concern would be the pet carrier bottom.

How about using a thicker intake spacer/manifold insulator?

Hello JettaKnight:

Thanks for your response.

I did'nt pay anyone to do the work that I mentioned in my previous response to you. I simply pointed out what I experienced.

Being that the throttle cable is of of a fixed length, unless you can find an adjustable one, or make your own, it still must be thread through the scooter in its original manufactured path specifications. I am not sure if the law requiring that, is by state or is federal law.

Best Wishes

Like what? By design there's an O ring there. It can't be too much because the studs are only so long...

Something like this:

Studs can be replaced with longer ones. They're probably an M6-1.0 or an M8-1.25 thread pitch. Length is measured in millimeters. Replacement studs are sold at places like AutoZone or ACE Hardware.

It goes between the cylinder head and the manifold? you should have one, it keeps the intake manifold from passing the block heat to the carb and boiling the fuel.

Please advise what the  is, so I may address it?
