Legshield center bolt measurements

Post by jmazza »

So today I noticed that somehow the center bolt in my Buddy's legshield has somehow vibrated out and is missing. I'm sure I can order one for $5 plus $10 shipping but I'd just assume find something similar that will fit at the hardware store. Can anyone measure their bolt and let me know the diameter and length?

Thanks!

I'd remove one of the other two and take it up to NAPA. My experience is they have a pretty decent selection of automotive bolts in the back.

Another option (in the Phoenix area, anyway) is Ace Hardware. all of them around here still have extensive bolt bins stocked with everything from nylon to Grade 8 steel, panel screws to lag bolts.

Or, hop on the scoot and take a ride to McGuckin's!

Where are there two others like the center one? Maybe somewhere under the legshield front cover? I thought that center one was the only one of its size. Of course if I had more I'd take them to the store and check myself! Help me out- what am I missing?!

I know there are two other similar holes for mounting a front rack but I thought those came w/o bolts already in them. Maybe I just need to pull the front cover and check!

Looks like this post says it's a 10mm bolt- just need the length now.

And I guess it's actually a screw, not a bolt.

You talkin' about the big stainless steel screw in the front?
My local Ace has a great assortment of stainless steel screws, bolts, etc.
Much better than the Home Despot (not a typo) or Lowe's.
Just ride your scooter to an Ace and they'll probably let you take a few outside til you find the right one.

Yep that's the one. That's what I think I'll do. At least I'm reasonably sure it's a 10mm now!

I checked my screw. It's a 6 x 1.0 (6 mm and pitch/threads 1.0) screw. The length is about 15 mm.

a 6mm bolt needs a 10mm wrench. Go figure.
