Scootin in Bermuda..

Post by skully93 »

So, I went on a 1 week cruise last week. Our only port of call was King's Wharf, Bermuda.

Apparently you can only have a 50-125cc scooter, and motorcycles also have really low limits. You can rent a scooter depending on size for reasonable.

We saw lots of Chinese scoots, but also a ton of Honda and Yamaha models we don't get in the States often. I also snapped a photo of a very new looking vespa 125ie.

Some others rented some scoots, and since they had time left, I joined them for the ride back to the rental shop.

1) driving on the left side is weird...(Bermuda is of course a British colony)

2) Bermuda is nothing but twisty roads.

3) people there drive at maximum speed at all times, and really don't care if you are there or not. Seems local riders are used to it.

I'll see if I can get some pictures up this week.

Sounds like fun! I love Bermuda. I used to visit somewhat regularly as my father lived there. It was the first place I ever rode on two wheels (a rented moped), cruising all over the island with my sister. It's definitely weird driving on the other side of the road when on two wheels — there's no steering wheel to help keep you orientated! It was an amazing fun time! Nothing but beautiful views and twisty roads everywhere you go!

This freaked me out at first when I bicycled Britain, but aside from one brief lapse on a rural road with no traffic, my companion and I managed to stay on the left side.
