Has anyone tried the NCY stator?
I'm curious how it compares to OEM.
OEM or NCY stator?

I recommend the the NCY stator over OEM, it was cheap and has lasted longer. The original stator in my '09 Buddy 125 last 4,800 miles, the generator part went out. I took it to the dealer and they put in a new one, and it lasted about 3,000 miles, the pickup part went bad. I found the NCY for $39.99 from the local shop(OEM costs $60.) I put it in myself, had to make a few custom tools. The NCY has 4,600+ miles on it and it is working good. The NCY is wired a little different, not a big deal but you have to get more wires behind the little holder so it is a little harder to install.

ScooterWorks sent me this same stator as a replacement for my OEM 2009 RH50 stator:
http://www.scooterworks.com/ncy-stator- ... age_id=268
But the connector arrangement isn't the same, and it has 2 dangling single wires, instead of just one like the old one has. Compare to this OEM stator:

Anyone know if I can try to repin the wires into the old connector and just leave the extra single wire unattached? Should I try it? How do I separate the wires from the new connector and repin them to the old connector? thx for any tips.

The pickup coil(the little black box) on the NCY is on a separated from the other wires, while the OEM stator has them together(at least for the Buddy 125 stator.) The NCY stator you linked is what I have on my Buddy 125 and it works great. The only difference is that when you are putting it on you have an extra wire to put behind the little clip that holds the wires.Stinkdyr wrote:ScooterWorks sent me this same stator as a replacement for my OEM 2009 RH50 stator:

My answer assumes that the Buddy 125 and Roughhouse 50 use the same stator, but I am not sure if that is the case. If they are the same then you can put the NCY stator in as it is.
EDIT: If you look at the picture below the red arrow points to the "extra" wires on the NCY. Is that what you are asking about asking about.

- Look at the red arrow, is that pointing at the connector arrangement that is different.
