Modern Buddy

Friend brought this back from TX on a trailer - apparently his dad bought it for him when he was 13 and it's just kinda... sat... so we have a fixer-upper!

*I thought I had taken a picture of the totally baddass peashooter exhaust on the other side, but I guess not!

We're thinking it's time for a scooter gang... jackets and all...

Nice looking ride there. What did they used to say- "You meet the nicest people on a Honda" ? I think it would be great if you got matching jackets. One reason I started looking at scooters after many years absence of riding was that I saw a group of scooters riding together and thought that would be fun to do.

Looks just like a SYM Symba. Any older CT Honda is worth fixing up. Little tanks with old school charm. Good find!

I look upon it with fondness - my first ride was a '70 CT-90.

change the oil, adjust the valves and they run forever.

Maybe 40 or so, but this was back in the late '70s when I weighed less . I commuted with it to college, and since my alternative was to take the bus, I'd ride pretty much whenever there wasn't snow/ice on the ground. There were some zero-degree days in there, but thankfully I had rubber-coated firefighter's gloves.

Looks great! My first ever scooter was a 65 Honda Cub C100. It was amazing once I got it running. Things to check first:
1. Clean carb and valves thoroughly if it doesn't run. I didn't clean it very thoroughly and it cost me time, enjoyment and money to have someone else cross my is and dot my ts haha i meant vice versa.
2. reoil the brake lines, speedo line, throttle lines. They get gummy at that age and things start going down hill quick, ESP the speedo cable!!!
3. Finally degrease and regrease the chain, those also get gummy and can use a refresher.

Adjust valves and you're good to go. OH and youtube best motorcycle ever. You'll be happy you did!

I would love to have one of these and a Cub/Supercub someday.

My first bike was a 50cc Mini-Trail and I so totally wanted a CT90. There is a need, if not a market demand, for something like this today, especially with its off-road emphasis. So many dirt bikes are way too tall these days and made for sport and not utility. The utility end has been taken over by the 4-wheelers but it would be so much easier to get this on the back of a truck. It will also go into much tighter places.

The Rokon is still around but is not even street-legal.

It's a beauty. I can't tell you how many of those we went through when we were teens. All the small displacement MC's that were around at that time, cheap and plentiful. AND, the cops didn't pull you over and give you a giant steaming turd of "no fun" when you were rolling them to get to some off road place. Yes, the world was better back then.
