Speedometer cable problem...

Post by Drumwoulf »

I had unscrewed the speedo cable sheath at the front wheel to make removing the top cover easier... But when I moved the bike I forgot to reattach the bottom and the wire cable fell out of the sheath..

Do I just slide the cable wire up thru the bottom of the sheath again until it gets into the speedo? Is there a special way to attach the wire into the speedo itself?

Thanks,
Namaste,

As a matter of fact, yes...you do just feed the cable back through the housing. Once you reach the end, rotate it slightly until you feel the square end slip into the square hole in the bottom of the speedo. Then simply fit the end in your hand back into it's slot on the wheel and tighten it up.

That's pretty much the way new cables of any type are administered to Vespas.
