Thanks for sharing! I know the "Mike" mentioned in the article, who is also President of Vespa Club of America. I'm hoping to ask him a million questions about this when I see him in May or June.

A ride like this _does_ look like a blast, but the instability still gives me the willies.

After reading the whole piece, I don't know if it's something I'd really attempt. It's not the challenge of the ride, which I'd welcome, so much as everything else that happened along the way.

I noticed when I was following the progress during the ride, that all the pics I saw were of very long, straight roads. I also didn't see many personal pics (that I recall) or video from people on the ride, which makes me wonder if that was prohibited.

Given the sociopolitical situation lately I don't know whether it would be a good idea for a woman to undertake this (even as part of a group), but Egypt still is not an Islamic republic, so it would be allowed by the government.
