Finally got my taxes back and I'll be buying a black buddy 125 within a week or two! Pretty excited
My question is I want some gear (jacket, gloves, helmet.. etc) I live in Wisconsin so the summers can get pretty warm and I'll probably be riding up until the first snowfall. I'd like to get something that I can wear mostly year round.. not sure if this exists though.
Do full face helmets get unbearably hot in the summer?
Any recommendations for a jacket/gloves?
Welcome to the Buddy Club. I've had mine for six years now and still love it.
I wear full face year round here in California including days over 100 degrees. We don't have the humidity that you will get though.
"I'm from Milwaukee and I oughto know". as the old commercial used to say. I never minded the 3 months of bad weather, it was always the other 9 months of really atrocious weather that I couldn't stand
I like a half helmet.I like to feel the wind .even in winter! My jacket is a cortech with a removable liner. It also has vents every where, to let the air in.(arms, back, cest) my gloves are army issue camelbaks.
I am in the chicago area.. and I wear a full face helmet and have 3 jackets however I do have a motorcycle as well, ok maybe a few motorcycles. The helmets do get warm when you stop however I dont like bugs and stuff in my face so full face it is.
Now onto jackets i have a full leather one, a textile one with rain gear/w quilted liner and a mesh one..
^ wow i really that jacket for it's style and its price. i just might pick one up
as for OP i wear FF helmets most of the time. when the temps get to the upper 80's plus or it's especially humid or depending on what else i am wearing i have a nice 3/4. but outside of June-September when my 3/4 get's some use i go FF. you don't have to spend a lot, either. their are good quality choices out there for around $100, give or take. just make sure it will fit your head right. different makers make different shaped helmets depending on model. if ordering online realize some helmets are better suited for oval shaped heads, other round, and some strike a balance. but fit is important for effective safety
I have a flip-up Nolan.....If you stop somewhere, you can always flip it up for a few minutes, like going in a gas station......and is a lot better if you wear glasses....I also have a 1/2 helmet, I use for around town, a lot cooler at those long lights.....
Jackets, you will need at least one warm one, and one cool one......if you value your hide...Same with gloves......
There is some neat Kevlar riding jeans out there to wear.....At least don't wear shorts!
