Voodoo Buddy - deadlights flash alternate to DOT turn signal

Post by pinthea »

Hi,

So I've got the Voodoo adapter that lets me make use of my front deadlights -- it has three connections on each side -- there's one connector that plugs into the main lead that brings power to each of the other two plugs. One of the remaining 2 plugs goes into the DOT turn signals, and the other goes into the deadlight.

I'm not using any additional wiring to go to the rear of the scooter to do anything with the rear turn signal lights.

When the turn signal is turned on, in either direction, that side's DOT turn signal flashes on when the deadlight bulb goes off, and when the DOT turn signal goes off, the deadlight bulb goes on. So they aren't both on at the same time.

Is this normal?

When I watch the Voodoo BOB video on youtube they seem to be using an additional splitter so that both front lights (DOT and deadlights) connect to the same Voodoo wiring harness connection, leaving the other one, I guess, to feed the rear and there is specific mention that the rear will flash alternately to the front.

I have no such splitter so I guess that's why I'm getting the behavior I'm getting. I'd prefer that when the turn signal is on, both bulbs (DOT and deadlight) on that side are on at the same time, off at the same time.

Am I missing or misunderstanding something?

That's the normal behavior for that adapter. I asked Kyle back in the day when he first starting making these.

Yes. The alternating lights makes you more visible to oncoming traffic.

I think there's a further adapter that you can do to get them to blink at the same time, etc, but alternating is pretty visible!

So where can I get this adapter? It would seem that voodoo scooter parts has closed.

Please refer to these threads for more info:

Then, send a private message (PM) to forum member VSP for assistance.
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...
