09 kymco help?

Post by ggs34 »

i have a kymco for a year.
it is a 09 people 250s
every time i start it up when it is cold. it has a high rpm
the back wheel spins at like 1800 to 2000 rpm until its warm and then slows down to normal
is this normal?
i have had a lot of scooters in my day none of them ever did this
it really eats up the gas
i hate it so much i want to sell it
i bought a scooter to have fun and save on gas
this bike really is poor mpg
any help would be very much appreciated thks

Well, all CVT scooters have some form of automatic choke. That will result in higher RPM's when the bike is cold. Your avatar says you have (or previously had?) another Kymco and a GT200. The three should be somewhat comparable in mpg. Is this scooter in particular doing poorer than the others?

Dooglas is correct. It's totally normal. I owned the Kymco People S200 for 5 years & it's the automatic choke kicking-in until the engine warms-up. Should last anywhere from 60-90 seconds. You should be getting appx. 65-70MPG. It doesn't have a large tank @ 2.2 gallons for a 250cc. Maybe you should rate your mileage & see exactly what you're getting.
