My Buddy 150 is lurching on take off

Post by Zedd35 »

My Buddy 150 is lurching forward when I first begin to accelerate from being stopped or after slowing down to less than about 5 miles an hour(I'm guessing). Any suggestions on what could be causing this? It has 7,500 miles on it and this is the first issue I've had with it. I also keep up with regular maintenance like fluid changes and things.

More than likely it's a buildup of belt dust on the clutch pads and inside the clutch bell. Remove the belt cover and blow out the housing with some compressed air. If that's the cause, that's the fix. Also a good opportunity to check the state of your belt, variator, etc.

At 7000 miles I'd change the belt if that's the original belt check the rollers and the clutch
what did you trade the day for?

with your mileage this sounds like a potential roller weight issue. You'll also have some cleaning to do as mentioned above, but lurching from take off is a common symptom pointing to worn and flat spotted roller weights, especially if you've never replaced them. I recommend replacing them with Dr. Pulley Sliding Weights, you'll get better performance and twice the life.

Thanks for all the advice! The variator and clutch pulley were VERY dirty and all the roller weights had really bad flat spots on them. A couple had more than one flat spot. The belt was in great shape though.
