I just traded my '09 Buddy 50 for a new 125. The power differential is terrific! I'm being careful about the break-in. At idle and cruise the new scooter is quiet in comparison to the 50. But while accelerating, the 125 is really loud. It's only got 60 miles. Is the loud clattering under power normal?
Bring that to your dealer's attention. It might indicate a seriously out of whack valve adjustment. It might be no big deal, but I'd have a pro give it a listen.

+1 to that. Seriously, take it straight to the dealer if you have a concern. Is it different than the one you test drove?

I rode a little today. Maybe there is a problem with the baffles in the muffler. It seems to be coming from there. It's really loud under acceleration. I test drove one a while back but don't remember thinking I'm going to wake the dead everytime I twist the throttle! I'll heed your advice and take it back to the shop in a few days. Thanks for the replies.
Check to make sure the air filter hose connects to the Carb. "under the seat the little trap door with the 1 screw on it " the carb should be under there and make sure the hose is connected.
I know my buddy " different intake " is a lot louder with the performance intake
Also, as long as the scoot has had a chance to cool, give the exhaust a little wiggle to see if it is loose, either where it attaches to the head, or at the hanger point further downstream.
Has anyone ever recorded the sound of their Buddy 125 engine idling or accelerating? It would be interesting to hear and compare everyone's Buddy. I think most cell phones have a voice recorder that throws out good quality. Is there a way to upload sound files here?
