Modern Buddy

So what does it do for the scoot? Just make a louder exhaust sound or does it improve performance as well? Is rejetting of the carb required?

I have had 2 x Buddy 125 in which I installed the Prima exhaust.

On my current Buddy 125, the Prima pipe is the only mod I have installed, and I have seen 72 bmph, (155 pound rider no windshield)

I don't think I'd get up to 72, or the top speed as fast without it.

At my elevation (approx 2,700-3,000 feet) I did not need to re-jet the carb on either scooter. Re-jetting depends on your scoot, and the elevation you're at.

on my 150 it added some mid range punch.

I've heard from other 125 owners that it does the same. Probably not super noticeable, but I like it. The sound is pleasant.

I just bought one but haven't received it yet. I like it for the extra "roar" a performance gain would be icing on the cake. My scooter shop which is a long time Buddy dealer says usually about 2 sizes up for the altitude here. I'll break the pipe in and check the plug. I won't run it hard enough before I check the plug though... No 20 mile WOT runs, lolol

Sunnyd tell David @sw you want your pipe gutted like Clint's. we cut the silencer out the mid pipe on mine. I had a local guy weld it back together.

I took delivery of the scoot yesterday and the pipe does have a nice throaty sound to it. Not to loud so that the neighbors will complain but loud enough so that I'll be noticed. I like it! Might even get one for my 170i.

1. Yes, high flow exhausts warrant rejetting to maximize performance gains.
2. The gains from an exhaust are primarily in the upper RPM range. It won't be much different at low RPMs where the engine already breathes as well as it can.

+1. Yeah I'd much rather deal with a main jet change then start messing with needle clips, LOLOLOL

It also won't work on the 170i. I noticed the shape of the existing 170 exhaust is pretty similar to the prima.

For the 125/150, we live at 5k feet and often travel to 8k+, and haven't had to re-jet. Probably runs lean here and there but nothing noticeable. The local shop said not to bother unless you were adding other things. YMMV

It won't work mostly because it does not have a O2 senser as the bike is F.I.

Opening up the air box will also help. If you want to get more out you need to get more in

I'm at about 900ft above sea level...I'm going up 2 on the main jet. The Scooter shop says that works pretty well. It may not be spot on, I don't know yet... but it won't be lean, and it shouldn't be too rich to cause any damage...once I get the new sliders installed I'll go for flat out and see how she runs...

it actually bolts right up to the 170 . the 170 does not have an o2 sensor the fuel injection mainly works off the mass air flow sensor to adjust fuel/air but it is very limited stock
