Blackjack or Pamplona?

Post by guzziknight »

We have my wife's Blackjack and I'm loving it. So much that I want to get a scooter for myself.

Is there a big performance difference between the Blackjack and the Pamplona?

Thanks!

To clarify: Are you talking about the current 170i Pamplona, or the 125 Pamplona made in previous years?

I thought prior to the 170, the Pamplona, Italia, St.Tropez only came in 50cc and 150cc...?
Past bikes: 08' Genuine Buddy 125, '07 Yamaha Majesty 400, '07 Piaggio MP3 250, '08 Piaggio MP3 500, '08 Aprilia Scarabeo 500
Current bikes: Two '09 Genuine Buddy 125's

You're right: my mistake.
The question still applies though.

P.S. The Blackjack is much faster than the 50cc Pamplona. :)

I was thinking either the 150 or 170, definitely not the 50! There's a used one up for sale, not sure the year, for a good price.

I'm a big guy, so I was curious if it would feel like the Blackjack.

Go for the 170i. I am 6'1" and 185 lbs, and I find mine to be comfortable
plus the 170i engine will move you rapidly. check with Floyd at Vespa Marietta to see if he has any Specials or derals working at the moment.
Good guy to del with.

The performance of a Blackjack and the 150 Pamplona should be virtually identical except the Blackjack has upgraded (NCY) suspension and brakes. This improves overall handling considerably. The 170 with fuel injection should increase performance, but I didn't see a much difference in actual riding situations with my Blackjack and a friends 170. I think either would work. Depends on the deal.
