Help: Buddy 50 won't start

Post by DCBuddy50 »

My 2010 Buddy 50 was washed over during a heavy downpour (laid in about 2 ft of water for at least 5 mins before I noticed it and was able to get outside to get it upright). Now I can't get it started and the kick start is completed jammed.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

take the exhaust off make sure their is no water in it , pull the spark plug put 5cc of 2t oil in it turn it over several times put the plug back in , drain the carb bowl and drain your gear oil , if your kick starter still doesnt work pull the cvt cover take off the kick starter gear cover clean and lub

Solved and back on the road!

Even after draining the exhaust, there was still a ton of water left. So I took it to the local shop and she was good to go after they drained the rest of the water from the engine, and replaced the spark plug and the old, struggling battery. :D

Wow. Water must have got into the cylinder through the submerged exhaust (port open). I guess that's what kept your kickstarter from working - a hydro-locked engine. How rare is that?
