blue knuckle scooting

Post by magpiash »

i'm back to borrowing my cousin's honda metro until i take the big $ plunge for a buddy (or win the giveaway coming up  ) and it's getting on the chilly side here in illinois. i want to know if those lobster gloves for bicyclists (see:http://www.rei.com/REI-Outlet/product/759759 )
would work well at the higher speeds of a scooter?

what about those things i see on atv's? like these: http://www.rapidracer.com/duunatvhawa.html

anyone even seen these on a scooter?

Both Lobsterman and I have some sweet cold-weather riding gloves made by Olympia.

I, however, have since moved, and if your hands are about the same size as mine, I'd be happy to sell my (very gently) used set to you for a small sum.

These are the ones...

I believe mine are mediums. :D
Huh? What just happened?

I highly recommend them as well.

When it gets really cold I wear a silk glove liner under them - that got me through all last winter, including a 14F morning commute.

22 degrees in Denver this morning! I was expecting cold, but not this cold. Still, I was pretty comfortable most of the way but did feel the cold start to seep through my Olympia 4370 gauntlets after about 15 minutes. 20 degrees is about the point where I need to consider an extra layer under my jacket as well.

Looks like my mesh jacket will be spending the next 5 or 6 months on the hanger...

last year my car was broke down from thanksgiving till x-mas, with exception of 1 or 2 icy days i was on the scooter the whole time, and the very very best thing for my hands was a cheap pair of leather mittens from target, for only $14. the fingers are individually insulated on the inside by thinsulate (feels like gloves) but the outside is a mitten. the only downside is that you can't flip people off while wearing them.

These gloves work great on the days you don't want to use puffy ski gloves. http://www.performancebike.com/shop/Pro ... earch=true [url]

a friend of mine LIKED mittens for that reason .....He would say "You can flip people off and they never know it" .... right after that our boss drove by and my friend "waved" and laughed...

last christmas, i got a pair of heated gloves that you wire into the battery (or you 07's could just hook up to the charger). it's something i wouldn't have bought for myself, but damn they're nice if you ride for any distance in the cold. they are now one of my favorite pieces of gear ever. if you ride in below freezing temps, i highly recommend them!! they made such a difference in my ability to enjoy the ride.

Is the battery on a Buddy 50 strong enough to power heated gloves like these?

Thanks.
