Flooring for Genuine scooter topcase

Post by Th17kit »

I was sick of the unattractive open bottom to the topcase, so I made a bottom for it and it was really simple and cheap. Whole project cost about 30 mins work and $15. I could have spent more time trying to make it fit perfectly, but it turned out well enough for my standards.

I used a tile of plastic garage flooring from Lowes about 1/4" thick in a design I liked, then traced the shape of the case bottom and cut out the shape with a razor.

Then whittled the edges with a razor to fit the curvature of the case.

I also decided to affix it with velcro in so it is removable but not wiggly.

Works great so far!

Oh yikes, that was ugly before! Weird that the bottom would have so many vertical ridges in it.

Nice job!--I might need to do that for my CooCase...give things in there a bit more grip!

...and good pix! Both of your recent posts (this one, and the color restore) have been awesome!

They provide structural support to the case, making it more rigid and strong.

Yes, but one would have thought they would have put an inside layer so the bottom is smooth when people put their stuff in there. My CooCase Wizard's and Givi's have all had smooth inside bottoms. Makes it a lot easier to keep clean inside...and in case you spill something....
