Modern Buddy

Hello! Newbie here...tyring to disconnect the carb on my Buddy 150 to clean it, after it's sat for awhile. I am hesitant to mess with the throttle cable too much, but I can't find an easy way to take the carb completely out of the scoot. All of the (very helpful) posts just say to take the carb out and clean it, more or less. Even the step by step I found from ScooterTrash says to "undo throttle cable", but there are screws, and springs and I'm not sure where to begin. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sorry I don't have pics to show...but the throttle cable connects to the carb via a metal peg that looks like it would pop out. Except the throttle cable is too tight to allow it to pop out. I twisted the throttle on the handle and it pulled the cable, and mechanism, such that when I released the throttle, there was slack in the system and the metal peg popped out. Upon closer inspection, I could have pushed the mechanism with my fingers to achieve the same result.

If you are reading this, you may be new to cleaning your carb, like I am. I found the same screws for the carb at Home Depot, with deeper slots for screw drivers, and an extra slot for a flat head screw driver. If you plan on messing with your carb, you may want to plan on stripping the screws. I took all the screws out - had to use an EZ out on the one I stripped - and replaced them all with the larger head screws from HD.

The throttle cable can be released by taking off the screws that hold the throttle cable bracket on the carb - then you can lift and loosen the cable from the spring thing that controls fuel delivery.

I was in the exact same situation last night. All it takes is to unscrew the bracket from the carb.

The easier and better way is to loosen the nuts on the cable sleeve. Removing one nut allows for the sleeve to be removed from the bracket.

The cable will easily be removed from the throttle spring assembly once tension is removed.
