Portland / Vancouver area maintenance?

Post by NikVee »

Hey Guys,

I know for a fact that there's a few Portlanders on the forum - I'm on the other side of the Columbia in Vancouver. While I know there's at least a couple of legit scooter shops in PDX (Pacific and Vespa Portland come to mind,) I'm wondering if there's any options for maintenance here in SW Washington.

I've had my Blackjack for a couple of months now and it just rolled over the 2500 mile mark - the previous owner had it maintained regularly (I believe at Pacific). I've driven by a place called Main Auto http://www.mainautorepairandscooter.com ... repair.htm - after giving them a call, I found out they'd do a full maintenance on the scoot for 125.

Does anyone have any experience with this place, or smaller shops in general? Or should I ride my Buddy down the freeway to a better established location? Also, what should I expect to pay elsewhere?

I have no reason to believe that Main Auto wouldn't do a fine job (I've noticed lots of scooters outside their building,) and would be glad to support a more-local business, assuming all else is equal.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. :)

Hello NikVee:

I live in Portland just across the river from you. I have visited and purchased parts from both Portland Vespa and Pacific Scooters, but I am not sure of their service.

I called up this place Main Auto in Vancouver you point out. Their shop rate is $75 per hour which is in the ball park of other shops. Once nice thing about them is that they are currently not booked up solid for weeks like all other shops are during the summer riding season. Do some background checking on them.

Unless I find out otherwise not to, I would take my scooter there for a repair and see how that goes.

At various times, I have had maintenance done by Portland Vespa/King Scooters, Columbia Scooters, and Milwaukie Vespa. I've had no difficulties with any of the three, though I find Milwaukie Vespa easiest to work with.
