Heidenau K61 3.50x10

Post by bgwss »

On the recommendation of Eric and others I purchased Heidenau K61 3.50x10 tire for back tire. First impression tire is not as tall or wide as my white wall Vee rubber (which Scooter works no longer has on site). Not seen this shared when discussing this tire or I missed it. I still have a Prima white walled on front so looks a little weird with smaller tire on back but I just put it on.
Seems better traction and cornering, see how it goes. :D
After looking at it I should have bought 100/90 - 10 61M TL K61. As I have 100-90-10 on the front. Live and learn. :P

Yep 100/90 10 is a nice fit. My only complaint about the k61 is, its a heavy tire. The shop has also had some issues getting my front balanced. Lots of grip though. I'm slowly building up my ability to use it all. I do have to get off the seat into the turn to avoid dragging my prima pipe.

Kind of funny — At Amerivespa, I walked up to the Heidenau booth where someone I know was talking to a rep. I rudely interrupted to tell my friend, "I won't put anything else on my Vespa! I'm evangelical about these things!" And the rep looked at my name badge, then said, "Oh yeah, we know…"

FWIW, the longevity on a Buddy isn't anywhere close to what I get on my LX and the main reason is size. Comparing the two side by side, the LX rear (120/70 x 10") is much wider than a 3.5 x 10 or even the 100/90.

I have Michelin S1s on the Stella now and they're my new "second favorite." Possibly encouraging too much hard riding for the Stella. I had it up in the mountains and canyons a few weekends in a row and have the scrapes under my scoot to prove it!
