Paint or swap?

Post by Demps »

I have a white 2012 Buddy 50 that just wasn't fast enough so I picked up a 2009 Buddy 125. Problem is the 125 is pink. It seems like I could just swap out the plastics, anyone know for sure? Wouldn't mind doing a custom paint job but I'm not sure if the textured plastics would look good painted, they are pink too. Anyone who has painted has the paint lasted on the textured parts?

Most of all I want to thank everyone from this forum. I bought the 125 not running and got it up and going with the info I found searching this forum.

swap them

Are you keeping the 50cc?

Swapping the plastics between the two would be my suggestion, esp if you are selling the 50cc.

A pink 50cc will likely be a relatively easy sale (at least it wont hurt it's salability any, as 50cc's are a tough sell in this area anyway)

The panels are all the same so long as your 50 has the same size headlight as the 2007-2013 125s.

There should be no problem swapping all the panels between those models/years.

And I agree that a pink 50 would probably be easier to sell, since people who are looking for a 50cc scoot are more likely to want a "fun" color like pink.

Thanks, I think I'll go ahead and swap them out. Trying to get my wife to try riding the 50cc, it's fine for cruising around the little island we l live on. I'm just looking to expand my range. 50cc scoots are really popular here, more so than bigger bikes so it shouldn't be hard to sell if she doesn't want or.

I know someone who swapped all the panels between a white '12 Buddy 50 and a forest green '13 Buddy 170 - and it worked out just fine, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to swap if all the panels are the same (aside from the color).

Fenders are different. Back didn't matter just didn't swap. Going to have to figure out something for the front. Can't swap the brackets because the holes don't line up. Anyone knowa good source to buy the parts?

Scooter Lounge lists a good selection of Buddy parts including panels.
