I just bought some Castrol 85W - 140 HYPOY C gear oil to put into my Buddy 125. Is this a bad option? It was all they had at the local O'Reilly's. I don't really know what Hypoy C means either. To be honest, I don't know a whole lot about anything, so a little advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin

Looking at the spec sheet you should be just fine with your purchase.

the 'hypoid c' labeling is a marketing thing; any quality 85w-140 gear oil will work for ya; gear oil of this type has additives that are designed to minimize wear in differentials with hypoid-style gears; I am personally using Valvoline 85w-140 synthetic blend gear oil in the rear differential in my '13 Buddy 125;
on a side bar note...at the next oil change for my motorcycle I will be using Valvoline 80w-90 synthetic blend gear oil in the rear differential (shaft drive motorcycle)
