I had my buddy in for some work recently, and as my mechanic was driving it...he heard a noise that he did not like. So he asked my permission to open the CVT, and have an inspection.
I went off for some lunch, and on return he showed me a pile of birdseed that a mouse had deposited inside my CVT. WOW! We found this just in time, before any major damage was done.
But...my mechanic told me I should bring it in for a CVT tuneup some time soon. He suggested this should be done every two years.....but I had never heard the expression.
After viewing a good video on Youtube, I now have a clue what this is about, and it is a good idea. How about other riders....how often, if ever, have you had a CVT tuneup?
CVT tuneup - how often?

It's not based on time as much as usage. There's not even a strict mileage threshold, as their is with oil changes, because the duress on the CVT varies quite a bit with your riding style and many other factors.
Until you're familiar with how long your belt and rollers last, I'd say have it checked every 6,000 miles or so. That's probably a bit conservative, but in the grand scheme of things, better to do it slightly more frequently than needed than running the belt and rollers too long and risking a belt breaking or damaging the variator.
