This past weekend my backyard was broken into and my wife and I's scooters were stolen. They were able to get into my backyard by going through my neighbors unsecured gate, hop a low fence between the properties, and crowbar the latch off of my gate.
So, if you have any doubt that your scooter is not properly secured let this be a warning. I've had them in the backyard like that for years and got pretty complacent about not locking them up.
Luckily I have them insured but I'm not sure how much they'll give me for them. If anyone has any advice on going through this whole process, I'm all ears.
After my first scooter was stolen from my own back yard (not visible from the road at all), after my first year, I made sure that I'd always chain it up back there. I had to buy and daisy-chain 4 separate chains to get it to something I could secure it to (living on a hill and having a steeply inclined backyard is annoying).
