Buddy 125 vs Buddy 150 electrical systems

Post by rick71454 »

Hello BuddyLand:

I am having some swap out a Buddy 125 engine for a Buddy 150 engine.
He is having a problem. The sparkplug was getting a spark before the engine was swapped. Now after the engine swap, he says there is not spark.

Questions: Are there any component differences between these 2 engines? What could be wrong?

Grateful for any help.

I don't think there are any differences that would affect whether or not you get spark.

What year is your 125? There MAY be a couple electrical differences in the '06s.

Has the person doing it tested for current in the plug wire? Are the other electrics working okay?

Buddy 125 engine is 2009, Buddy 150 is 2008 engine.

I just talked to a Genuine dealership and they agree with you on no differences.

Mechanic on my scooter said power goes into CDI, but not out of it. Seems like the CDI might be the problem. He thinks CDI might have gotten fried by the electrical system witch from 125cc to 150cc, but I am skeptical of such a diagnosis. He suggested the stator might be bad.

Anyway to test CDI & Stators? Not sure what else he said or did.
