Atlanta Scooter Peeps

Post by jrsjr »

I'm from Decatur and all I can say is...

Seriously, y'all think hard about the basics of survival in a situation where you have no electricity for a week and make your preparations; propane stove, food that doesn't require cooking, water, blankets, warm clothes, batteries, generator - whatever it takes. It's never too soon to get going on this project...

Been There, Done That, Nearly Starved and Froze to Death in Decatur in the Great Ice Storm of '73

P.S. Though it may not be entirely politically MB correct, it's also a good idea to gas up any four wheeled vehicles you have so that you can huddle in them for heat (or run an inverter off the electrical system) as a last resort. Been there, done that, too.

I am in Ball Ground, GA. Temp has dropped to 33 and we are getting a heavy
snow storm. Can barely see across my back meadow and the stuff is sticking. We are expecting this to continue into Thursday. Will also get some
freezing rain and sleet, below Atlanta may get over an inch of ice. We gassed
up, can run the motor home generator for a little electricity for the house if
we lose power.
Bought a scooter, should have bought a sled!!!
