Help with front wheel removal

I would like to remove the front and rear wheels soon to bring them in and have the tires changed. I found a very helpful rear removal in the tech library, but I can't seem to find any information on removing the front wheel. Can I simply remove the axle and pull the wheel out, or do I need to remove the brake caliper before I can slide the wheel out? If anyone has an answer to this or a tutorial for front removal it would be much appreciated, thanks!

I just did this. I removed the brake caliper, then tried to undo the axle bolt with a regular wrench and ended up practically stripping it. Get a six sided deep 17mm socket and put it on the longest socket wrench you can find. Mine was a bear to get unscrewed. That's it.
