i may be attempting this next weekend. wish me luck.

i've seen the step-by-step tutorial that's posted, but what i want to know is what type of air filter is needed? can you buy them anywhere or only at a mc shop? i've looked through the buddy owner's manual, but don't see a type or model listed. a little help, please.

thanks.

Ms. Scullyfu...the air filter is a Buddy specific item. You have to get it through your Genuine dealer. OR you could go with an aftermarket item, but then you are looking at serious carburetor work. Otherwise, stick with the Genuine item.

Does the air filter need replacement at each maintenance or just cleaning?

Generally just cleaning (a good blast with compressed air). However, I had so many miles on mine that I replaced it at about 12,000 miles.

The air filter is about the size of a deck of cards, but I would probably give it a visual and a blast of air between replacements, which shouldn't be too often. every 3rd or 4th oil change.
