My new 2007 Buddy 50 has a small fluid leak mid bike underside. The bike has 187 miles on it and is going through break in. Was stopped at lite on Sun and notice small drippings and then pulled over. After inspection the fluid was coming from the connection point where the front end of the exhaust piping ties into the engine. There are two hex nuts that fasten the stock piping. I wiped off the two hex nuts with a towel and no more fluid was showing or seeping out. It appeared to have weeped out of one of the hex nuts. Both hex nuts were tight and all appeared in tact.
The mystery fluid was either straight oil or oil/gas mixture. It was hard to determine. Did not smell gassy.
Though it was not straight gas. It was not gear oil in the rear area, and it was not brake fluid.
The gas tank, oil resevoir, and mixture resevoir all seemed intact. All black liquid engine hoses and housing seemed in tact.
I have yet needed to add oil since it has burned out only 187 miles worth and the refill oil lite has not turned on.
What was it and how is it fixed? It only happen this one time and the bike otherwise is performing and sounding as it has since first purchased.

Hey - I may have encountered a similar problem - and there might be a simple explanation - but maybe not. I have a 2007 50cc Buddy as well and it only has about 60 miles on it so far. I looked down the other day and noticed some oil spots on the rear fender and in a few other places. To try and find the problem - I popped off the seat and realized when the manufacturer or the dealer had filled my Buddy with oil either they didn't use a funnel or the funnel overflowed.
Check the opening for where your oil goes in - most likely it is not a perfect seal where it comes through the seat. A bunch of oil got under my seat. It must have slowly worked its way down since there were no drips when I got my buddy. I discovered that all down the underside of the seat there was an oil trail right to where it had been dripping.
Check it out - this sounds similar to the problem you are having, but maybe not.
