I am thinking that a buddy 125 is what I am looking for transportation these days but it is starting to get cold in Philly by the middle of November. I really like the black buddy my dealer has in stock but can I expect good or bad things to happen by waiting until next year to get a buddy, either 2007 or 2008. Likely would be looking to get late Feb early March.

You should see if your dealer is planning any "cabin fever" types of specials this winter. That might make it easier to decide when you want to get it. Also keep in mind there may be some fun 2008 scooters that might interest you more. :)

Don't look for any startling changes for the '08 Buddy. Colors may be a little different.

The PGO 2007 & 2008 Bubu (the Bubu and Buddy are the same scooter) look the same.

You may be able to get a price break on an 07 scooter compared to an 08. The dealer should be willing to sell for less to make room for the new 08's also with the prediction of gas prices to hit $4.00 per gallon by next summer, I will bet a lot more scooters are going to be sold next year and the price will go up as demand rises (just like the gas). What ever you do, I wish you luck and I'm sure you will enjoy a scooter.

In general, scooter prices are pretty fixed—MSRP plus dealer prep and other fees and taxes—and aren't usually monkeyed with during the year due to rises in demand. Dealers doing so are asking to have people go elsewhere to buy their scoots.

Genuine may up the base price a little, though. The '06 Buddys were $100 less than the '07s and the special editions (Series Italia) were a couple hundred more on top of that. Next year, we're supposedly going to see a St. Tropez edition (blue and silver), a Barcelona edition, a lighter orange color, and possibly a brighter red.

There were some improvements between '06 and '07: larger headlight, halogen bulbs, LED tail light, 12v outlet. We haven't heard of anything like this for next year, but Genuine's being pretty tight-lipped about their plans for next year.

Good question Atom, I'm wondering the same thing...that and wondering if a scooter place will take my motorcycle in trade. I hope to pop up to Scooterworks in a few weeks to take a look and ask some questions in person.

Atom, if you're talking about Philly Scooters, then you're in luck. From their MySpace page:

Just got an answer back from Scooterworks and they won't take a trade.

Guess I'll have to see if I can sell it outright in the Spring.
