Buddy size?

Post by Queen »

I'm scooter shopping right now and have a three hour drive to the closest Buddy dealer. I keep reading that the cockpit area on the Buddy is a little tight for taller people...at 5'10" (and 32" inseam) would it be cramped for me??

Edit - I'm looking at the 125

No - don't think so - I am about the same size and have no problems on my Buddy 50.

I'm 6' 1" and 210lbs.
Sometimes I sort of wish the handlebars were slightly higher. Other than that I'm cool like Fonzi :)

I'm 6' with 32" inseam. I have no trouble. The only time it is a little tight is when I've got a passenger (which the buddy wasn't really designed for anyhow).

I'm the same size. No problems with room for me except when carrying a passenger.

Thanks for the input everyone, it sounds like it's worth the trip to Scooterworks for a "sit".

Stretching Room...

Post by Roose Hurro »

Yep, I got a chance to "sit" a Buddy a while ago, when a Genuine dealer turned up local... didn't need to do the 2-3 hour ride, like I thought I would. Fit me perfectly with a 30 inseam, at 5'7". Close enough for government work, as they say......... :P

I'm 6 feet tall and the buddies size actually steered me away from buying one. I went with a Vespa instead. I also did not like the handling felt a little shady around corners.

i'm 5'5" and I feel tight when i have one of my sisters as a passenger (they're both within 2" of my height) i don't know how someone much bigger would even carry a passenger. NOTE: i also have a basket on my chrome rack which keeps my passenger from sitting as far back as they might on someone else's.

I made some phone calls yesterday and it turns out our local Kymco dealer has recently picked up both Buddy AND Vespa! I spent Black Friday test riding scooters in 25 degree weather! :D

Fell in love with the Vespa GT200...but NOT the price. I'm going to go back and ride the Rattler 110 and the Buddy 125 (again) and see if I can love a less expensive one.

vespas do feel more tank solid on turns at lower speeds. To me I prefered the nimble feeling of the buddy over vespas, but i can see how some people like the feeling that their bike steers them a little more.

I am 6'1" and sat on a Buddy 125 yesterday. It felt great. I haven't ridden one yet. I will be going back to the dealer after the holiday to test ride before I buy.

I happen to be 6'6". I have avoided posting on this since I just have not sat on that many scooters. I know if I was going to ride for longer than one hour or so, I might need/want a bigger scooter, but for my purposes (commuting), the Buddy is fine.

I sat on a bunch of different scoots, (vino, kymco, Vespa, bunch of weird chinese ones which I knew I was not planning on buying) and nothing does not bump me in the knees. When I have to make a sharp turn, I sometimes have to bring the knee out, but that is at very low speed. When I am just making regular turns at speed, I am doing more leaning, than turning the wheel.

Sorry I can't give a lot of comparison on this, just don't think there are any scooters really made for my frame. But Buddy works for me.

I'm 6'4", have a buddy 125, and I have never once felt uncomfortable on it. Even with a passenger on the back (which isn't often) my knees are up to the "glove box" area but its still comfortable and hell..just fun to drive.

The layout of the Buddy gives you a lot of options for comfortable positioning. If you absolutely insist on keeping both feet flat-footed on the floorboard in front of you and your shoe size is at the large end of the spectrum, you might have some comfort issues on long rides.

My size 9's are fine but I also like to ride with my feet back on the passenger "pegs". It's comfy and also feels a bit more natural when cornering aggressively.
