Hooligan Oil Filter
I have been examining my Hooligan with a flashlight, trying to remove various plastic pieces, and I have yet to spot the oil filter. Does anyone have a clue they could give me about where to look and perhaps what needs to come off to get at it?
The drain bolt is right on the bottom in plain sight at least.

I have been through the manual and there is no mention of anything except the "Course oil filter* (on oil draining bolt)."
In all the searching I have done about the Buddy 170i, I have seen mention of the oil filter, but I have yet to come across a picture of one in place on the bike. I have also seen mention of some sort of oil cooling / filter assembly on the Hooligan, and I can see a small radiator type mass in the very bottom-front of the bike, but I don't see a canister type filter anywhere near there either.
The bike is quite covered up by plastic, so it could be hiding somewhere. Someone mentioned to me that there is a chance the bike doesn't have a filter. It will be nice to find out.

The oil cooler is located inside the belly pan, behind the front wheel and offset to right side of the steering stem. That is the "radiator" you're seeing.dowlf wrote:I have been through the manual and there is no mention of anything except the "Course oil filter* (on oil draining bolt)."

At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...
Seriously...I've lost count...

I found the parts diagram for the Hooligan online, there is no screw on type oil filter listed. Seems if it was there it would be shown with the oil cooler assembly, but there is nothing. I am disappointed that there isn't one because of the obvious benefits it would provide. I guess I will be doing the oil changes much more frequently than I planned.

The only "filter" is the screen under the drain plug, so basically, no oil filter. They gave a reason of there being such a large capacity of oil already, with the oil cooler and oil lines, that it wasn't necessary.misterbrackets wrote:Does that mean there's no oil filter, or no screw-on type oil filter? Maybe it's a cartridge and a small cover has to be removed. I'd be surprised if there was no oil filter at all .... the Stella has 2 of them (one that needs to be replaced, the other just cleaned and re-used)
At first I felt concerned about the lack of filter, but I figure it will save me a lot of money on oil filters over the life of the scooter.
It seems there is plenty of room in the belly near the oil cooler that you could add one pretty easy if you wanted to.
Great bike by the way, I drive it around town everyday. Very comfortable and it sure gets a lot of stares.
