Modern Buddy

Danny here again everyone.

After Purchasing the buddy I bought a 330 dollar insurance policy from progressive drive.

It covered liability, medical payments, uninsured motorist.

I did NOT get collision, (I assumed that If I went down it would be someone else's fault, and I was darn lucky that it WAS).

Yesterday I went over to Progressive in Sherman Oaks CA, signed 4 pieces of paper and received a check for 3,278.52. It took about 3 minutes. I have to admit I'm happy to have almost gotten the complete amount for the bike!
And hat was from the collision adjuster. I meet will the injury adjuster receive another check covering time off of day job work, missed gigs, and then the intangible of "inconveniences".

I'm pretty impressed in the service, and I'll go with them again when I get my new scooter. (probably in the new year).

I encourage ALL drivers, (not just LA) get uninsured motorist insurance. If I HADN'T had it, I'd be in an entirely different situation.

that's great danny,
i didn't pony up for the uninsured motorist and i know i take a chance on that end. however, with the difference, 2 months to i'll have saved enough on insurance to buy a new scooter. i don't know what will happen with med bill should i get hurt but i've got med insurance my employer pays out the wozoo for.

good to hear about progressive, danny, cuz that's who carries my scooter insurance. btw, did you put in a claim for any accessories? i.e., your helmet, jacket, topcase, etc? cuz on my policy, they include $1000 for accessories.

Although I was sorry to hear about your accident, I'm glad to hear that you had a very positive experience with your insurance company. I feared much worse when I saw the thread. I've gotta stop thinking negatively!

Pretty cool. You recovered pretty much the full price of a new Buddy, a check for work time lost, AND A HAT! I'd call that making out like a bandit.

Seriously though, it's good to hear that Progressive treated you right. You hear way too many insurance horror stories these days. And, depending on where you live (any metropolitan area), uninsured motorist coverage is a must.

progressive is the easiest to deal with, the cheapest, and just all around greatest insurance company. i've had 1 incident that i needed to take care of with them, and it went much smoother than i ever imagined.

So, new Buddy for you then?

not sure yet. maybe an lx150, maybe an older vespa.

i miss my buddy for sure.

I received a check for "missed work, pain and suffering today"

the three week anniversary of my buddy's death.

I have to say in Los Angeles, Progressive is the way to go.

And now I'm shopping for a 70's or 80's vespa!!

danny, did you see my question about payment for your accessories? if so, how'd that play into your settlement?

they paid me in full for the buddy and all accessories, (3300 dollars worth...)

i was amazed. usually depreciation is more.

I was paid for my missed days work, missed gigs (I'm a musician also) and a whole lot of pain and suffering.

I may still go for another buddy. BUT, I think the 12 mile commute daily is a tad too dangerous, and now I car pool to the ol' day job.

I will scoot the weekends and keep my scoot club going.
(however small it is)

I can't believe how amazing my insurance company has been.

and remember ALWAYS CARRY UNINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE.
