Buddy 125 engine oil capacity

Post by DeeDee »

Hi, I've searched the forums and couldn't find the answer to my questions: Any input is greatly appreciated.
1). Do you change the canister filter w/ every oil change?
2). What is the crankcase capacity for an oil change A) leaving filter in place B). complete oil change with new filter.
The filter appears to hold 3 ounces or so.
Thank you!

-My manual says to change the canister oil filter every 5,000km (3,100 mi).
-If you are changing your oil at a shorter interval, leave the canister filter in place.
-My manual says 800cc of engine oil needed during an oil change. It didn't specify if that figure included the canister filter change.
-After draining the engine oil, after the first 500cc, I add about 100cc at the time and keep checking the dip stick.

Agree with this mostly. I would add more that 500cc(around 800cc, just don't go over. You have to start the engine and let it run a few seconds, then check the oil level. I would not risk it being under filled). And as far as the filter, I change it every oil change. It's about $10 and when I put fresh oil in, I want a fresh filter. No reason to skimp on this IMHO.

It's important to run the engine a bit, shut down, then give the oil a couple minutes to drain down before rechecking. Also, the 125 and KK's 150 have different capacities as the 150s have an oil cooler.

See the manual for what Genuine/PGO say, but bear in mind that they may or may not have different capacities listed for the different motors.

Anyway, play it safe: have the bike level and on a center stand, add about 800ml, run it to check for leaks, then shut it off, wait 3-5 min for a full drain-down, and check the level with the dipstick screwed all the way in (not unscrewed like Hondas). Add enough, if needed, to bring it up into the correct zone on the stick.

1). Do you change the canister filter w/ every oil change?
- I change it ever 2-3 oil changes. I change the oil every 1,200-1,600 miles.
2). What is the crankcase capacity for an oil change.
A) leaving filter in place
-I fill ~700 ml, start it and let it warm up then take it around the block(1.1 miles.) then recheck.
B). complete oil change with new filter.
- I fill ~800 ml, then short ride and recheck.
