Gorilla 9000 false trigger: Shock sensor off

Post by Godio13 »

Hi,
So rather than taking my Buddy 50 to a shop to install the gorilla alarm, I did it myself. Super easy to actually install, but I think that there is something I don't know.

The alarm constantly goes off. I shut the shock sensor off, so I think it is the tilt sensor. I'm thinking that there are a couple reasons why;

1.) I read that you need to put the alarm on while its tilted on it's stand so that it programs its natural stance like that. So that is what I did. But I think because I attached it to the inside of the front panel, after I attached the gorilla to the harness I still had to move the front panel to screw it back to the bike....
-Is the front panel not a good place?
-Does that have anything to do with it?

2.) I did a sloppy job and I should just get it done by a professional

I am also a little confused about the tilt sensor because isn't it a ridiculous assumption to think that every ground that you leave your bike is exactly where you programmed it (in front of my house, for instance). The street that I park at work is uphill, where as my house is leveled. Also, uneven pavements are everywhere.

I can't be the only person with this problem!

Thanks in advance.

I also installed the Gorilla up in the front nose. There's that perfect snug little spot where it fits, with just the Velcro patch to hold it in place. Mine's been fine mounted there for the past couple years.

Personally, I think the tilt sensor's not really necessary. My tests showed that with the tilt sensor disconnected, just grabbing the bars is more than enough to set off the motion sensor. The tilt sensor, therefore, is somewhat redundant. Besides, I always-always use the center stand.

So just disconnect the thing and be done with it.
