by BuddyRaton
Here we go! Burn your credit cards now. This is the month where we max them out.
The spend-a-thon will run from after Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve .
Some people get nice surprises under the tree and need a few days grace to post here... and I can imagine other lucky people may buy gear while on vacation.
Please wander over to this thread during this month every time you spend money on scooter gear. ANY scooter gear for ANY scooter!
Thats globally. All brands, A to Z including books, gear, oil GPS (probably gonna be a few of those!)
Please post your spending in USD to make it easy.
( Do your own currency conversions easily at
http://www.xe.com )
There's no need to mention much except the total $$ involved and the date I guess. But you are more than welcome to post a list!.
I will update the total every couple of days! Lets see just how much we can spend! Yes yes...of course cash counts too!
Just to get things started!
12/1/2007
Cup holoder for Vespa $10.00
1qt 2 stroke oil (synthetic) $15.00
Buddy 125 keychain $5.00
Total $30.00

Okay, I just dumped a bunch of money into my Vespa using a small portion of funds from the insurance settlement from my crash last year. Somehow it seemed appropriate. I put in a 190 kit ($330, now installed) and got a beauty of a leather seat ($200, in the mail). The 190 is pretty awesome; I can now get off the line at least as fast as a Buddy.
I have a couple other holiday scooter projects in the works but I don't want to give them away until they're done.

I got a TomTom One GPS unit for my Buddy. It is now $149. at Amazon. (I paid $249 about three months ago, but oh well!) The battery lasts for about three hours with heavy use, and I can recharge it with my handy cigarette lighter adapter. (I have an '06, but my dealer (Brooklyn Bretta) added it and did a great job!) I have yet to configure a more secure mounting device (right now I just perch it in my cup holder compartment on top of my 5' covered chain lock, which is kept in the holder while I am riding.) I like knowing that I have a back-up plan in case I get lost while riding around DC, Maryland, or Virginia. I usually keep the unit in my purse, and it has come in handy for finding phone numbers for businesses, or even getting walking directions! I recommend this product for Buddy riders for sure!

Tour Master leather gloves, $40, plus $120 for an HJC CL15 full face helmet. I'm in the market for a jacket, but there are too many choices - so many that I can't even narrow the choices.

Unfortunately, it's that time of year where I cannot pass up a bargain. So I've indulged in the following ways:
Two Tourmaster Elite rain jackets - $9.99 each (at that price I bought one to fit me for just walking around and one to fit over my Tourmaster Draft Air jacket) - Motogear Outlet's holiday blowout sale rocked!
SetUp Sunrise boots from NewEnough.com - $89.00
total: $110.00
Can't wait to see whgat is under the tree!

I'll be getting a Vega Summit II helmet soon, so add $130 to my tab.
After trying on dozens of modular helmets, this is the only I found which fits my weird head.

Just got a brand new (2007) Buddy 50, in Black.
Had a 70cc kit and varaitor(Malossi) installed.
Put a prima exhaust on and the cowl guards.
Purchased from Sportique scooters....
Just over $2800.00 out the door.
I bought this stuff with the money I recieved from my Insurance Company after my 2005 vespa ET2 was stolen and then recovered...but was damaged to the point of being totalled out. Ok i had to throw in alittle on top of what the Ins. co. paid!
The Boys over at sportique gave me a great deal(obviously!) after finding out my ET had been stolen.

I also just got a new windshield at Metro Scooter's fabulous one day sale last weekend. $90
Bought it Saturday, installed it Sunday and rode 4 days out of 5 this week, rain or shine.

I rode mine a ton this week also. I felt much more confident on the four lane than I had before. I didn't get buffeted nearly as much. Buddy seemed to hold speed better also. I had no trouble holding it at an indicated 60 + for 30 miles or so.

Any bean counters out there who would like to calculate how much we all spend per person per category (helmets, jackets, etc)?
Then I'll make a graph!

I thought about buying a 2nd scooter but our already crowded parking space forced me to rethink this. Looks like I'll be putting around $2000 into my other bike. Since it's not for the Buddy I won't list the stuff but I think my Duc will be even more fun once I'm done.

The HCL CL-Max Solid in Cherry Red. I'm replacing my modular helmet, as a matter of fact. Um,
ericalm, I actually used to have the Vega Summit II, but the locking mechanism broke after only six months! To be fair, I bought it used from eBay, so who knows what happened to it before I got my mitts on it. Totally stinks, because I really liked that helmet. Meh.

Oof! It has a warranty new, so I should be covered for a year at least. It's the only damn one that fits me. I really wanted a Caberg Justissimo, but that just wasn't going to happen without reconstructive facial surgery.

I have a whole garage but somehow the wife seems to think a 3rd bike/scoot doesn't fit into our remodeling plans. I say we may need to build a 2nd garage.

Is it crazy to be buying accessories for a scooter that has not even hit the water yet?
Scooter World-KC had a huge sale(30% off) on all scooter stuff. So i bought:
Cuppini short windscreen $78
Rear Chrome rack $45
These are for my yet to be delivered '08 St. Tropez.
It's quite possible that i have completely lost my mind.
