overfilled my oil tank

Post by Moejazz »

Hey guys, I just changed my oil and put the recommended 900ml in and it's way to full. In hind sight i should of known better. Is there anything i can do or is there any major problems with it being to full?

Thanks again and sorry if this question is answered in another post, got to work in a couple of hours and tried searching but got lost.

Just some blown seals.

Yes, drain the oil to the correct amount.

Moe, you could either siphon/syringe a little bit out from the dipstick hole, or open the drain bolt and take some out the bottom (messier). If you have a syringe and a piece of tubing, doing it from up top is a lot quicker and cleaner.

Remember to check your oil level with the dipstick screwed-in, unlike on some bikes where you do so 'unscrewed'.

Did you change your oil filter this time around? If not, 900ml is a bit much, as the filter's already got some on-board.
