(NBR) I Succumbed to the Scooter Succubus - AGAIN!!

Post by BuddyRaton »

It was too good a deal to pass up!

79 P 200

Malossi 210cc Aluminum cylinder

30mm Dell’Orto PHBH reed-valve carburetor (premix)

PSP2000 exhaust (German hand made)

I picked it up last Monday and met the seller. He was the second owner and had it for about 20 years. He was a German guy that knew his scooters and had done the work...quite a while ago so he didn't remember all the details.

To the best of his knowledge it is a stock crank, cases ported to match, reduced 4th gear. I don't know what head is on it and have not yet checked the compression.

It starts...a little tough but will always bump start. Choke needs to be connected. It runs strong and somewhere around 5k RPM (butt tach) the pipe or something kicks in and it freaking pulls!

But you won't even have to soak it in Pine-Sol for two days! What fun is that? In all seriousness, I am so insanely [strikethrough]jealous[/strikethrough] happy for you!

Be mindful of those old drum brakes. Don't you go off and get yerself in an accident now.

Indeed. It sounds like it was!

Congratulations! I laud your excellent taste in machinery. ;)

Now update your sig.
At what point does a hobby become an addiction? I'm uncertain, but after the twelfth scooter, it sorta feels like the latter...

Seriously...I've lost count...

Seven mopeds ...that's still manageable...

That's a beauty and has some nice mechanical mods.
Try and post up a video for us. I'd love to hear that handmade pipe!
